Antenna adapter for Motorola RAZR V3m - 352015

The external antenna adapter for the Motorola RAZR V3m is the 352015. We have received several inquiries regarding the use if the 352015 for the RAZR V3m. Our engineers tested the adapter on the V3m that we have here and found that when connected to the ARC wireless freedom antenna we saw a 19 dB system gain.

The Basics: Dual-Band Cellular/PCS Antennas for Cars

Up to 90% of a cell phone's power on transmit and receive is absorbed within a car or truck and the users head. We solve this problem by channeling all the power from the cell phone to the outside antenna. This results in our dual band antennas transmitting and receiving over 10 times the signal of a cell phone used inside a car / truck without an outside antenna.

There are many different ways to mount antennas to your vehicle. Mini magnetic mount or a full size Wilson Cellular antenna is probably the simplest and the most portable. NMO Mount antennas such as the Antenex Phantom or Wilson NMO involve actually drilling a hole in the roof of the vehicle. These offer a much cleaner look than the magnet mount because the wires are all inside the vehicle. If you don’t want to drill a hole and you don’t want wires hanging outside the vehicle you can use a Wilson Cellular or Antenna Specialists glass mount antenna but performance does suffer as compared to an NMO or magnetic mount antenna.

To connect a cellular antenna to your phone you will need the appropriate phone adapter cable.
In additional to simply using a
cellular antenna many amplifiers are available to further boost your signal. Amplifiers are used in additional to your cellular antenna.

An inline amplifier provides even greater range by increasing the strength of the received signal as well as transmitting a stronger signal back to the cell tower.

If your phone does not have an antenna adapter available, a SignalBoost amplifier can be used to boost your phone’s signal.

Lastly, if you need to improve the signal for multiple phones in a single passenger vehicle a wireless vehicle repeater from Wilson Cellular or Digital Antenna may be used.

As you can see, there are many antenna and amplifier options for your vehicle. If you are unsure of which solution is right for you, please don't hesitate to contact us:

NEW PRODUCT: EA-1089A FME/Female Dual Band Right Angle Swivel Portable Antenna

The EA-1089A FME/Female dual-band omni-directional right angle swivel antenna is ideal for use as the interior antenna for a Wilson Cellular Dual-Band SOHO Repeater (801245). The antenna features a right angle swivel which allows the antenna to be properly positioned (vertical) whether the Wilson Cellular Dual-Band SOHO Repeater (801245) unit is simply sitting on a desk or mounted to a wall.

The antenna has an FME/Female connector which allows it to connect directly to the FME/Male interior antenna connection on the 801245 SOHO Repeater. It will not connect directly to the higher powered amps with N/Female connectors or the Digital Antenna amplifiers with Mini UHF/Female connectors. The antenna is not designed to be connected directly to a phone/phone adapter cable.

Option GT (Globetrotter) Cellular Data PC Cards

Most Option GT (Globetrotter) family cellular data PC Cards support an external antenna using the FME antenna adapter 359917. However, certain Option cards with WLAN (Wi-Fi) support do not support an external antenna. To determine if your card has a port, please see the picture to the right.

Please note that on WLAN/Wi-Fi cards with antenna ports the port itself does not support WLAN - i.e. you can increase your cellular signal but not your WLAN signal even if you use an antenna such as the ARC Wireless Freedom Antenna which itself does support both Cellular/PCS and Wi-Fi frequencies.

Multi-band Global Cellular Antennas and Dual-Band Euro/Asian Boosters

Digital Antenna

The vast majority of cellular antennas available on the market support North American Dual-Band Cellular and PCS Frequencies (800/850MHz & 1900MHz bands.) Digital Antenna has introduced a line of Multi-Band Global Cellular Antennas which support all cellular bands worldwide (850, 900, 1800, 1900 and 2100 MHz). They offer marine grade fiberglass antennas in 18", 30", 4' and 8' models as well as the 489-DB Multiband Directional Yagi for fixed installation usage. These antennas are designed and manufactured for all cellular systems, including third generation (3G) and WCDMA technology.

Furthermore, they also have the DA4000E PowerMax™ EuroAsian Cell Booster which is a 3 Watt Dual-Band Direct Connect (Inline) Signal Amplifier for Europe and Asia. This unit supports European and Asian cell phones operating on either 900MHz or 1800Mhz - it does NOT support US/North American frequencies (see the DA4000 - Digital Antenna 800MHz/1900MHz Dual-Band 3 Watt PowerMax Direct Connection Amplifier for North American use.)

ARC Wireless

Our most popular portable antenna for use with cellular data cards is the ARC-FR0803R30 (FME) - ARC Wireless Solutions Freedom Cell Phone Antenna. The antenna as well supports all cellular bands worldwide (850, 900, 1800, 1900 and 2100 MHz).

Antenex (Laird Technologies)

Lastly, we have a selection of Antenex Phantom antennas which support the worldwide cellular bands. These antennas are available in NMO mount and P-mount options and support the iDEN, Cellular, GSM900, DCS1800, PCS, UMTS and ISM/WiFi bands.

External Antenna Adapter for the Palm Treo 750

It is looking like we may have an adapter for the Treo 750 in the next couple of months. We hope to have a sample within the next month and if testing goes smoothly production units a month or so after that.

As the Treo 755p has a very similar housing to the Treo 750 it is possible that a Treo 750 adapter will fit the 755 but we do not know at this time.

Questions on the Treo 650, Treo 700 external antenna adapter

Some customers have looked at the Treo 650, Treo 700 external antenna adapter after they have received it and questioned whether or not the adapter will properly connect.

We can unequivocally state that the adapter does properly connect to the phone's antenna circuitry. We have tested the adapter extensively with our own Treo 650s and 700s as well as others. We put the phones into field test mode to confirm the improvement in dB signal strength (with external antenna attached.)

To the right you can find an example picture of the results with one of our phones.

Part of the confusion is due to the fact that the signal strength display on the phone, in particular on CDMA models (Verizon Wireless, Sprint, Alltel, etc), is not particularly accurate. Field test mode is a much better method to measure.

Sierra Wireless AirCard 875 Antenna Adapter Short SSMB Connector

Some customers have contacted us concerning the "External antenna does not improve performance on the AirCard 875" entry in the Sierra Wireless Knowledge Base.

The issue discussed in the entry is that some antenna adapters for the Sierra Wireless AirCard 875 PC Card have a short SSMB connector.

This warning does NOT apply to the AirCard 875 compatible adapters that we sell.

Our adapters do not have a short SSMB connector. We have successfully tested our adapters with several AirCard 875 PC Cards. We used Sierra Wireless' Watcher application to confirm that the adapters made contact and signal improvement was seen. (Information on reading dBm signal strength using Sierra Wireless' Watcher application).
