The Basics: Dual-Band Cellular/PCS Antennas for Cars

Up to 90% of a cell phone's power on transmit and receive is absorbed within a car or truck and the users head. We solve this problem by channeling all the power from the cell phone to the outside antenna. This results in our dual band antennas transmitting and receiving over 10 times the signal of a cell phone used inside a car / truck without an outside antenna.

There are many different ways to mount antennas to your vehicle. Mini magnetic mount or a full size Wilson Cellular antenna is probably the simplest and the most portable. NMO Mount antennas such as the Antenex Phantom or Wilson NMO involve actually drilling a hole in the roof of the vehicle. These offer a much cleaner look than the magnet mount because the wires are all inside the vehicle. If you don’t want to drill a hole and you don’t want wires hanging outside the vehicle you can use a Wilson Cellular or Antenna Specialists glass mount antenna but performance does suffer as compared to an NMO or magnetic mount antenna.

To connect a cellular antenna to your phone you will need the appropriate phone adapter cable.
In additional to simply using a
cellular antenna many amplifiers are available to further boost your signal. Amplifiers are used in additional to your cellular antenna.

An inline amplifier provides even greater range by increasing the strength of the received signal as well as transmitting a stronger signal back to the cell tower.

If your phone does not have an antenna adapter available, a SignalBoost amplifier can be used to boost your phone’s signal.

Lastly, if you need to improve the signal for multiple phones in a single passenger vehicle a wireless vehicle repeater from Wilson Cellular or Digital Antenna may be used.

As you can see, there are many antenna and amplifier options for your vehicle. If you are unsure of which solution is right for you, please don't hesitate to contact us:
